Nice - become the European Capital of Culture in 2013 |

| Along with the city from Slovakia, Nice is the candidate to become the European Capital of Culture in 2013. This title is appointed by the European Union. Being the European Capital of the Culture for one year, the city has a chance to show the best sides of its cultural life and cultural development. This is also the year when the international attention is turned to the city. The title was initially called the European City of Culture, but in 1999 transformed into the present name. The first city to get the prestigious title was Cork, Ireland. |
